Toy Story 4 Storyboards - Alternative Scene by Domee Shi
One of the things I love about social media and artist's blogs is how much concept art and storyboards is available for films that were only just released. I'm pretty sure that most of the big studios actually encourage artists to share their work as a way to create extra buzz for the film. I don't think Toy Story 4 really needs much more buzz, that film is doing fine on its own, but I'm still happy to see some great storyboards for an alternative scene.
These storyboards were done by Domee Shi, the Academy Award winning director of Bao. They show a different scene of Woody meeting Bo Peep, than the one in the film. Domee shared these boards on her Instagram saying:
"While developing the story for Bao, I worked as a story artist on Toy Story 4 for two years! So impressed with how the film turned out, but just for fun, here’s a snippet of one of my fav scenes that was cut (and now lives on in the art book!).
In this early version, Woody meets Bo for the first time in years in a seedy toy gambling den, where she’s hustling to win supplies to repair herself and her broken friends. Bo’s a cheater! But she looks good doin’ it. . ."
