Composition: How many compositions can we get with two subjects? Can we move the camera to get a different feel or emotion? Can we have one of the subjects be a power player, perhaps one in authority, commanding the shot or encroaching on the other? When exploring, think of these compositions as 'weaker' and 'stronger'.
There is no 'perfect' shot, rather, just many options that can perhaps better sell the emotional beat of the scene visually. The idea here is to capture options and clarity of information.
